What is Christ-Centered Integrative Psychiatry and Our Approach

Christ-centered integrative psychiatry is a unique approach to mental healthcare that combines the wisdom of faith with the latest scientific advancements. It recognizes the profound connection between your mind, body, and spirit, and how this interconnectedness influences your overall well-being.

This integrative modality incorporates the healing power of Christ into psychiatric care. It offers a compassionate and supportive environment where you can explore your faith while receiving evidence-informed treatments. By addressing your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, we aim to help you discover your full potential in God's design, experience a deeper sense of peace and purpose, and empower you on your journey towards wholeness, guided by the love and grace of Christ.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).

At our clinic, we believe in WHOLE PERSON healing. And God has blessed us with many ways to support our mental health and overall well-being. Integrative psychiatry addresses all aspects of your life, recognizing that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. We group our care into four interconnected areas:

Cross

Unity of Body and Spirit (Spirituality)

Recognizing the profound connection between your mind, body, and spirit, we may incorporate faith-based practices such as prayer, guided meditation on scriptures, or discussions about your purpose and meaning in God's eyes to nourish your spirit.

Wen-Chi Fan

Welcome to my clinic! Allow me to share a bit of my story with you.

My name is Wen-Chi Fan, and I am a passionate psychiatric nurse practitioner with 20 years of experience in mental health. I've been blessed to complete my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Oregon, followed by a Doctorate in Nursing, focusing on adult medicine (ANP) and mental health (PMHNP) from the University of Washington. I have also obtained a certificate for Functional Medicine (FMACP) and updated continued education. These valuable learning experiences have equipped me to offer you comprehensive care.

For two decades, I've had the privilege of serving diverse communities—from psychiatric hospitals to community clinics, from veterans to seniors, from substance use disorders to trauma. I firmly believe in individual uniqueness and whole-person healing. Therefore, to better serve the community I am deeply committed to, I founded Cornerstone Integrative Psychiatry Inc., a virtual clinic dedicated to Mandarin and English-speaking clients who are seeking a faith-based psychiatric provider in Washington State.

The Bible says, "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." As a fourth-generation Christian, my mission is to strengthen the body of Christ by offering non-judgmental, culturally sensitive, and personalized care to those facing mental health challenges.

Outside of work, I love to enjoy life's simple pleasures. My home is filled with lovely pets—turkeys, peacocks, cats, sheep, and a loyal sheepdog named Pele. In my free time, I enjoy tending to my little veggie garden, listening to music, dancing, and gathering with friends.

If you're looking for a professional who can understand and support you, I'm here.

Breakthroughs and hopes await!

FAQ

Who do you see?
I see adults (over 18 years old) who struggle with psychiatric issues and are open to seeking assistance through both conventional psychotropics and alternative therapies. I have a special heart for Mandarin-speaking Chinese Christians who suffer from mental health challenges and lack access to culturally and spiritually sensitive services.
Do you accept insurance?
Thank you for considering our services. I want to let you know upfront that our practice operates on a cash pay basis, and we do not accept insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid. This allows us to provide more personalized and flexible care without the constraints often imposed by insurance companies.
We understand that this might be a significant consideration for you. To help, we offer detailed receipts (superbills) that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement, excluding Medicare. Additionally, we are happy to discuss any questions or concerns you might have about this process.
Do I still need to take medication?
  • Balancing brain chemistry: Medication can help regulate brain chemicals like serotonin and dopamine, which significantly impact our mood and behavior. By balancing these chemicals, medication can alleviate symptoms such as depression and anxiety.
  • Providing immediate relief:While psychotherapy may take time to show results, medication can offer quicker symptom relief, helping patients feel better in the short term, thus enabling them to engage more effectively in other treatments.
  • Improving quality of life: Medication can help stabilize moods, allowing patients to face life's challenges with greater calm. This enables them to work, study, and enjoy life's pleasures more fully.
  • Enhancing treatment outcomes: When medication and psychotherapy are combined, the results are often better. Medication can reduce symptoms, making it easier for patients to engage in psychotherapy, leading to more comprehensive treatment outcomes.
What if I am not a Christian, is it still a good choice for me?
First of all, having free will is fundamental to a person’s spiritual journey and one of the most important components of unconditional love in Christianity. Therefore, we will never try to “convert” anyone. If you have a belief in a higher power, or simply a desire for holistic well-being, we invite you to explore our approach. We combine evidence-based practices with tools for self-growth and resilience. If this resonates with you, we might be the perfect fit.
